Information regarding the work-study contract can be found in detail in BOE No. 291, in its resolution dated November 22nd, 2022, in Article 29 on contract types, and specifically in section 3.3.2 concerning the work-study contract.

Contract duration

The work-study contract is not an apprenticeship contract. Under the new labor reform, the work-study contract has a minimum duration of 3 months and a maximum duration of 2 years.

Work-study training can be carried out under a single contract, non continuous, over several annual periods coinciding with the student's studies. If the contract was initially agreed upon for a shorter duration than the maximum legal period and the qualification, certificate, accreditation, or diploma associated with the training contract has not yet been obtained, it can be extended by mutual agreement until the aforementioned qualification, certificate, accreditation, or diploma is obtained, without ever exceeding the maximum duration of two years.

Workload

The actual working time, which must be compatible with the time dedicated to training activities at the training center, may not exceed 65 percent during the first year, or 85 percent during the second, of the maximum working hours stipulated in the collective bargaining agreement applicable to the company, or, if no such agreement exists, the maximum legal working hours.

Compensation

Compensation will be that established for these contracts in the applicable collective bargaining agreement for the professional group and pay level corresponding to the functions performed, in proportion to the actual working time.
