Admission procedures

UPC-BarcelonaTech (UPC) is a public university and thus, students wishing to pursue their bachelor's degree, must complete the university pre-enrolment on the university admissions portal. Students having completed university pre-enrolment must submit the document of the courses they have completed at the University Admissions Office or one of its sub-offices. These documents should be submitted in the period established in the pre-enrolment calendar.

Access and admission to bachelor's studies at Barcelona School of Civil Engineering

Foreign students wishing to pursue bachelor's studies at Barcelona School of Civil Engineering can obtain a place using different vias depending if they are:

• Secondary students from UE and countries with reciprocity agreements
  Students from the education systems of EU member states or any other country that has signed a reciprocity agreement with Spain may apply for admission directly, without the need to sit the PAU, provided they meet the academic requirements in force in their own education systems to attend university.
  These students must have adequate knowledge of the language in which the courses will be taught. The Spanish National Distance Education University (National Distance Education University (UNED) is responsible for verifying these admission requirements.
  Candidates must submit their applications and related documentation at: https://unedasiss.uned.es/. They must then apply for a place at the university offering the course in which they wish to enrol via the pre-enrolment process.
• Secondary students from countries outside the UE or without reciprocity agreements but homologated studies
  For university admission, candidates must have final official recognition of the upper secondary school certificate. They cannot be admitted with a conditional registration slip.
  They will not be assigned a definite place until they have official recognition of the upper secondary school certificate, but they can complete university pre-enrolment on the university admissions portal.
• Secondary students with homologated studies but that do not meet university admission requirements in their country of origin
  For university admission, candidates must have final official recognition of the upper secondary school certificate. They cannot be admitted with a conditional registration slip.
  They will not be assigned a definite place until they have official recognition of the upper secondary school certificate, but they can complete university pre-enrolment on the university admissions portal.

Students who have been assigned a place at a master's degree program from Barcelona School of Civil Engineering, which for some extraordinary reason cannot begin their studies, can request that their place be reserved for a period of time of 1 to 2 semesters (in case the master's degree allows for semester access) or a year (in case the master's degree only allows annual access).

Once the reservation has been requested, students must pay the enrolment fees to formalize the reservation. These fees include the administrative services associated (management of the student record, teaching support and student's insurance, if necessary).

Students unable to begin their studies once the reservation period expires will automatically lose their place and the right to be reimbursed of the enrolment fees already paid. The reservation period can only be extended in case severe illness or injury is fully justified.

Who can place the request?

Only students with a place assigned at a master's degree program from Barcelona School of Civil Engineering for the current academic year or semester.

How can you place the request?

The request for reservation of a place at a master's degree program must be placed via e-Secretaria:

Access the e-Secretaria, with your UPC credentials:

• In the menu "Tràmits", choose option "Altres tràmits".
• Select the form "Altres tipus d'instàncies de matrícula".
• Fill up the boxes Exposo and Sol·licito explaining
  • "Exposo": the motive you request beginning the master's degree a year or semester after the admission date assigned.
  • "Sol·licito": the semester you would like to begin your studies.
• Click on "Sol·licitar".

Once the Bachelor's and Master's Degrees Support Unit (USGEGM) receives your request, the enrolment fees associated to the reservation of the master's degree place will be issued.

• You can check the enrolment fees form at e-Secretaria
  • In the menu "Matrícula", choose option "Impresos i pagaments"
  • Select the form "Reserva de plaça" and click on "Visualitzar l'imprès"
• Make the payment of the enrolment fees to reserve a master's degree place by credit card or at any of the banks collaborating with the UPC.

Students must send the receipt of payment by email to the Bachelor's and Master's Degrees support Unit (USGEGM - admissions.masters.camins@upc.edu). The place reservation cannot be confirmed unless the bank receipt reaches the support unit.

When can I place the request?

Request can be placed in the dates established for master's degrees enrolment formalization in the academic year or semester of admission. Students may check these dates in the academic procedures calendar for master's degrees, which is published in this same page.

All those requests received out of term will be automatically dismissed, except in exceptional cases fully justified and documented, and despite this, they may be equally rejected.

Result of the request

The USGEGM will publish the results of the requests for place reservation at the School's Master's programs once they receive the banking receipt of payment of the reservation enrolment fees.

Students may check these results at the e-Secretaria:

Access the e-Secretaria, with your UPC credentials:

• In the menu "Tràmits", choose option "Llistat de tràmits".
• In column "Estat dels tràmits" you may check the results of your request, which may be:
  • Accepted: Your request has been accepted. By clicking on "Detall" you may access the document establishing the conditions of this place reservation.
  • Rejected: Your request has not been accepted. You may find out the motives by clicking on "Detall".
  • Dismissed: Your request has been dismissed as it is not relevant or does not correspond to the procedure in question.

Visiting students are students from foreign universities that wish to enrol in UPC's bachelor's or master's degrees' courses as part of their studies outside the framework of a mobility program or agreement that establishes the free-of-charge enrolment in the target university.

These students have the right to be evaluated and receive an official transcript of records once the course is completed. Likewise, they only have the same rights as the rest of UPC enrolled students as long as they have been admitted to any UPC study program.

Under any other circumstance than being admitted to a study program and meeting all the necessary requirements will a student receive a bachelor's or master's degree. In case they are subsequently admitted as a student, the credits completed as a visiting student (up to 30 ECTS) will then be incorporated into their transcript of records.

Fees

The economic framework applied to these students is regulated by and agreement between the Board of Trustees Economic Committee, which is revised every academic year.

The enrolment fees for the visiting students for the 2018-2019 academic year is of 143,08 €/ECTS.

Procedure

As a visiting student, you must fill this request up and send it by email to:

• Bachelor's degrees: graus.camins@upc.edu
• Master's degrees: masters.camins@upc.edu

• Application form for visiting students
• Bachelor's degree certificate (mandatory for master's degree students)
• Copy of passport or ID card
• Transcript of records
• Motivation letter
• Medical insurance (covering the whole stay)

Swapping universities and/or Spanish official studies

Students wishing to swap universities and/or Spanish official studies can request their direct admission to a bachelor's degree to the center without having to go through the university pre-enrolment procedure as long as they have been recognized at least 30 ECTS.

Students must previously apply for a recognition study if they meet the criteria specified below:

Who can request it / Scope

• Students who are pursuing undergraduate studies and want to pursue them at another center or university.
• Students who are pursuing undergraduate studies and want to switch to other undergraduate studies within the same center or at another center or at another university. Extinction adaptations of the curriculum to the degree that replaces it are not excluded.

Admission requirements

• Recognition of a minimum of 30 ECTS corresponding to compulsory subjects of the degree of the School of Paths to which it is wanted to accede. Under no circumstances is the final degree project (TFG) recognized.
• Not to be affected by the rules of permanence in the studies of origin, if these have been studied at the UPC.

Students cannot be admitted through this channel if...

• They are pursuing undergraduate studies at the UPC, and are left to pass only the final degree project in their original studies.
• They are from another university or have studied in accordance with previous university regulations to which, once the recognition study has been carried out, have to pass less than 60 ECTS of the studies they want to access. These restrictions do not apply to students who have completed a study plan at the UPC that is already extinct and have not completed it.
• They are graduate students or are in a position to obtain the bachelor's degree, given that the change of university and/or official Spanish university studies implies, in all cases, the closure of the original academic record.
• They want to study simultaneously or follow an itinerary leading to a double degree.
• They cannot be recognized at least 30 ECTS.

Students who have studied abroad

Royal Decree 967/2014 establishes that it is the responsibility of Spanish universities to validate foreign studies for partial Spanish university studies.

Students who have completed their university studies abroad and have obtained a degree may apply for recognition of the degree at the competent ministry or may apply for partial validations directly at the University, but never simultaneously.

If they want to apply directly for a degree from the Escola de Camins, they must first apply for a validation study of their foreign studies.

The procedure for admission to the University varies depending on the number of validated credits:

Admission to studies by directly applying to Barcelona School of Civil Engineering

• Validation of a minimum of 30 ECTS corresponding to compulsory subjects of the degree of the School of Paths to which it is wanted to accede. Under no circumstances is the final thesis recognized.
• These students cannot pre-register.
• These students must apply for direct admission to the Escola de Camins.

Admission to studies with university pre-registration by swapping studies

• Validation of less than 30 ECTS.
• These students will have to make the pre-registration by swapping studies in which they will only be able to request the study (degree) of the center that has made this validation to them and for which they will have to present the certificate of the study of the validation issued by Barcelona School of Civil Engineering.

Admission to studies with general university pre-registration

• Students who do not obtain the recognition of any credit can access university studies through general pre-registration, upon application for approval of their degree to the Spanish baccalaureate degree and passing the tests access for foreigners at the National Distance Education University (UNED)assis

Procedure

1. Presentació al SIAE Camins Graus i Màsters de la Sol·licitud d'estudi previ de reconeixements/convalidacions de crèdits per estudis universitaris oficials, dins el període establert.
2. Lliurament, junt amb la sol·licitud, de la documentació acreditativa.
3. Pagament de la taxa corresponent a l'estudi de reconeixements/convalidacions.
4. Si a la resolució es reconeixen/convaliden 30 ECTS o més i l'interessat vol sol·licitar l'accés directe al Centre, haurà de presentar al SIAE Camins Graus i Màsters la Sol·licitud d'accés directe per canvi d'estudis, dins el període establert.

Estudiants amb el batxillerat internacional o amb el batxillerat europeu i estudiants procedents de sistemes educatius de la Unió Europea o d'altres estats amb règim de reciprocitat, sempre que compleixin els requisits acadèmics exigits en els seus sistemes educatius per accedir a les seves universitats.

Estudis homologats al batxillerat espanyol cursats en un sistema educatiu d'un país de fora de la UE

Per a l'admissió a la universitat cal disposar de l'homologació definitiva del títol de batxillerat i superar una de les 4 vies d'accés a la universitat per a estrangers que estableix la National Distance Education University (UNED).

Estudis homologats al títol de batxillerat espanyol cursat en un sistema educatiu de la UE però que no compleix els requisits per accedir a les universitats en el país d'origen

Per a l'admissió a la universitat cal disposar de l'homologació definitiva del títol de batxillerat i superar una de les 4 vies d'accés a la universitat per a estrangers que estableix la National Distance Education University (UNED).
