Mobility procedures

Who can apply?

Students enrolled in the following degrees:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering in Catalan/Spanish (BdCE-10)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering in English (BdCE-English)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Geological Engineering (BdGE)
  • Master's Degree in Civil Engineering - Professional track (MsDCE)

What is it?

  • Students enrolled in the Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (2010 program) and the Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (2017 program) are required to complete a mandatory mobility period. To satisfy this requirement, students must complete either 18 ECTS credits in recognized subjects approved by the School or 18 ECTS credits through an international placement.
Article 7 of the School's academic regulations for bachelor's degree programs states that "students enrolled in the Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering programs who are unable to complete the mandatory mobility period due to duly justified reasons may request to substitute this requirement with a placement at a company with an international component. Such requests must be submitted—with supporting documentation—from the second year of study onwards. These requests will be decided upon by the School's Executive Board."
  • Students enrolled in the Bachelor's Degree in Geological Engineering are required to complete a mandatory mobility period. To satisfy this requirement, students must either pass courses worth a minimum of 18 ECTS credits or complete an international placement worth 18 ECTS credits.
Article 7 of the School's academic regulations for bachelor's degree programs states that "students enrolled in the Bachelor’s Degree in Geological Engineering who are unable to complete the mandatory mobility period due to duly justified reasons may request to substitute this requirement with a placement at a company with an international component. Such requests must be submitted—with supporting documentation—from the second year of study onwards. These requests will be decided upon by the School's Executive Board."
  • For students of the Master's Degree in Civil Engineering who have not previously completed a mobility period equivalent to 18 ECTS credits during their bachelor's studies, the master's mobility requirement is also mandatory. The minimum requirement to satisfy this mandatory mobility is 18 ECTS credits from recognized/passed courses or 18 ECTS credits from completed international internships.
Article 7 of the specific Academic Regulations for master's programs at the School of Civil Engineering states that "MECCP students who, for duly justified reasons, are unable to complete the mandatory mobility period may request to substitute this requirement with an internship at a company with an international component. Requests must be submitted, along with supporting documentation, to the School's Academic Secretariat (SIAE). These requests will be decided upon by the School's Executive Board."

How should you complete this procedure?

  • Submit an initial request via e-Secretaria > Requests > Application > Mobility, stating and providing evidence of the motivation. Once assessed, this request is decided upon by the School's Deputy Director for Mobility.
  • If the initial request is approved, the student must submit—via the School's Academic Secretariat (SIAE)—an educational cooperation agreement for a 540-hour external academic placement and a Training Project justifying the international component, which must be authorized by the School's officer responsible for placements.
  • At the same time, the student must submit a formal request via e-Secretaria > Requests > Application > Mobility, asking for the submitted placement agreement to be recognized as fulfilling the mandatory mobility requirement.
  • If this second request is approved, once the placement period has ended, the student submits the student and company evaluation reports; once these have been assessed, the exemption from the mandatory mobility requirement is added to the student's academic record.

What is it?

In official UPC degree programs, credits may be recognized based on activities (whether academic or otherwise) that count towards obtaining an official degree. This recognition implies an equivalence in terms of specific and/or transversal competencies and student workload.

For Bachelor's degree programs, the UPC allows for the recognition of up to 6 elective ECTS credits for university activities—such as cultural, solidarity, cooperation, and student representation activities—as well as for training undertaken within the framework of mobility programs. These activities must be carried out concurrently with the degree studies.

Who is eligible?

Students enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program who have completed an international mobility program and still need to complete elective credits. The request for recognition must be submitted during the final enrolment period for the degree.

Do you need to submit an application?

No application is required.

Once the student has submitted all the documentation necessary to close the mobility file, the recognition of 3 or 6 ECTS credits—depending on the duration of the stay (one semester or a full academic year)—will be added to their general academic record.

How do you process the recognition?

You must log in to your e-Secretaria account and select the recognized activity under the Academic record > Recognition of activities section.

To pay the fee at a bank, you can print the corresponding payment slip from the forms section of e-Secretaria. Payment can also be made by credit/debit card or via CaixaBankNow from the same section of e-Secretaria.

The credits are not officially recognized until the corresponding fee has been paid.
