The researcher from the Barcelona School of Civil Engineering joins the ’Earth & Cosmic Sciences’ section in recognition of his scientific excellence.

Escola de Camins alumni Carlos Flores and Sergi Serrahima, both professionals at the firm TYLin, receive two of the awards presented during the event.

Professor Eugenio Oñate, Professor at the School of Civil Engineering and founder of the International Center for Numerical Methods in Engineering (CIMNE), has been officially inducted as a full member of the Real Academia de Ingeniería.

Research led by Professors Marcel Hürlimann, Nieves Lantada, and PhD candidate Núria Pantaleoni analyzes lessons learned from Storm Gloria to improve disaster loss databases—a critical element for risk management in climate change scenarios.

The jury praised the technical excellence and innovative approach of the 5 finalists in an event supported by Aigües de Barcelona and the AMB.

Submissions open until April 24, 2026. The Camins Futur Award ceremony will take place on May 14 at the Palau de la Música Catalana.
