In the latest edition of the Abertis Spain 2026 Awards, two students from the School of Civil Engineering (Escola de Camins) have been recognized for the excellence of their master's theses (TFM) linked to sustainable mobility.
The researcher from the Barcelona School of Civil Engineering joins the ’Earth & Cosmic Sciences’ section in recognition of his scientific excellence.
Escola de Camins alumni Carlos Flores and Sergi Serrahima, both professionals at the firm TYLin, receive two of the awards presented during the event.
Professor Eugenio Oñate, Professor at the School of Civil Engineering and founder of the International Center for Numerical Methods in Engineering (CIMNE), has been officially inducted as a full member of the Real Academia de Ingeniería.
The award, granted by the Societat Espanyola de Mecànica Computacional i Enginyeria Computacional (SEMNI), recognises his outstanding career dedicated to the training and development of new generations of computational scientists.
Within the framework of the presentation of LEIA UPC —the University's new strategic Artificial Intelligence program— students Aleix Cases and Martí Warda have been awarded the runner-up prize (accèssit) in the team category of the first IA Challenge UPC competition.
