The School of Civil Engineering celebrates the Graduation Ceremonies of the 2025-2026 cohort and publishes the photo collection

On June 16 and 17, the Auditorium of the Vèrtex Building hosted the academic graduation ceremonies for the graduates of the Barcelona School of Civil Engineering, reaffirming the humanistic commitment of our professions and the connection with the business community.
On June 16 and 17, the School of Civil Engineering celebrated the Graduation Ceremonies for the 2025-2026 academic year. The Auditorium of the Vèrtex Building was filled with the new bachelor's and master's graduates, accompanied by their families and friends.
The events began with the opening speech by the director of the School, Ms. Esther Real, who congratulated the new cohort on their talent, perseverance, and ability to overcome challenges. In a context marked by digital transformation and artificial intelligence, the director reminded them that "training is no longer a stage, but a permanent attitude" and emphasized intangible values such as critical thinking, leadership, ethical commitment, and professional integrity.
Recovering the humanistic legacy of great figures closely linked to Barcelona, the director evoked Antoni Gaudí's famous maxim, "First love, then technique", as well as the legacy of Ildefons Cerdà, recommending the book Teoria Cerdà by School professor Francesc Magrinyà, to encourage young engineers to always place technical knowledge at the service of human well-being and planetary sustainability. One of the most emotional moments occurred when the director asked the graduates to stand up and give a round of applause to their families in gratitude for the support received throughout their studies.
This year's cohorts featured Ms. Monica Peinado, communications director at TMB, and Mr. Andreu Ulied, Director of MCRIT, as the honorary patrons for the master's graduates.
The ceremony also included speeches by Mr. Pere Calvet, dean of the Association of Civil Engineers, and Mr. Xavier Font, dean of the College of Civil Engineering; as well as the closing remarks by the Vice-Rector for Research at the UPC, Mr. Pedro Díez. To conclude the event, the university anthem Gaudeamus igitur was performed, followed by a celebratory toast in the building's gardens.
