A delegation of professors and students from the School of Civil Engineering has played a prominent role in the 4th edition of the Summer Course on Structural Health Monitoring, held from June 22 to 26 at the Universidade Lusófona - Centro Universitário Lisboa.
Structural health monitoring is a fundamental pillar for the sustainability and safety of infrastructures. Aiming to delve into this discipline, a representation from the School of Civil Engineering has participated in the 4th edition of the Summer Course on Structural Health Monitoring, held between June 22 and 26 at the Universidade Lusófona - Centro Universitário Lisboa.
This meeting was framed within the Blended Intensive Programmes (BIP) and was funded by the Erasmus+ programme. The event brought together a total of 30 students and 18 instructors from various European institutions to provide a comprehensive introduction to the key concepts of structural health monitoring applied to bridges and special civil structures.
Representation and knowledge transfer from the UPC The participation of the School of Civil Engineering was led by researchers and students:
- Faculty: Luca Pelà and Semih Gönen traveled to Lisbon to share their expertise in recent static and dynamic structural monitoring projects, particularly applied to complex heritage structures.
- Master's Students: Tiziana Ivanac Souto, Freddy Quezada, and Juan Alvarez.
- PhD Student: Oğuzhan Gümüş.
The event was a great opportunity to connect with leading experts in this field and to boost the training of the next generation of engineers, who are key to designing a safer and more resilient built environment.
From the School of Civil Engineering, we encourage our master's and doctoral students to join future editions of this program, taking advantage of the Erasmus+ funding. The full program for this year and details of the activities can be consulted through the course's official channels.
