Professor Antonio Gens elected as a new member of the prestigious Academia Europaea

The researcher from the Barcelona School of Civil Engineering joins the ’Earth & Cosmic Sciences’ section in recognition of his scientific excellence.

Professor Antonio Gens has been elected a member of the Academia Europaea, one of the most prestigious international scientific institutions. Gens will officially join the Earth & Cosmic Sciences section, an appointment that honors his long and outstanding career in the field of research and applied science.

The Academia Europaea, founded in 1988, is a non-governmental association of global reference dedicated to the advancement and propagation of excellence in the study of humanities, letters, and sciences. With a clear objective to promote European research, the Academy acts as an advisory body to governments and international organizations on scientific matters, while fostering interdisciplinary cooperation and international research.

This election represents a milestone of major significance for the Barcelona School of Civil Engineering (ETSECCPB - UPC). Professor Gens' international recognition reaffirms the School's positioning as the "ground zero" for high-impact research and as a leading institution in civil and environmental engineering.
