Escola de Camins alumni Carlos Flores and Sergi Serrahima, both professionals at the firm TYLin, receive two of the awards presented during the event.

On May 28th, the Teatro Real in Madrid became the epicenter of civil engineering in Spain with the celebration of the annual Fundación Caminos awards gala. The event, which recognizes the sector's most outstanding careers and projects, was attended by the Director of the Escola de Camins de Barcelona, Ms. Esther Real.

The evening highlighted the academic leadership and international projection of the Barcelona School of Civil Engineering (Escola de Camins), thanks to the awards received by two of its graduates, who are currently part of the global infrastructure consultancy TYLin:

  • National Award for Master's Final Projects in Civil Engineering (9th edition): Awarded to Carlos Flores for his Master's Thesis (TFM). This recognition honors technical excellence, innovation, and the practical applicability of the research developed upon completing his studies in Barcelona.
  • Rafael Izquierdo Solidarity Award (12th edition): Awarded to Sergi Serrahima Serra for his outstanding collaboration with the NGO "Bridges to Prosperity". The award underscores the social impact of engineering through the construction of bridges in isolated areas, transforming the lives of vulnerable communities and facilitating their access to essential services.

These awards confirm the dual vector that defines the identity of the UPC's Escola de Camins: on one hand, technical rigor and innovation capacity in high-end engineering; on the other, an ethical commitment and a dedication to service aimed at improving the world through infrastructure.

The School's management wishes to extend its warmest congratulations to both the awardees and TYLin for their commitment to promoting and empowering the young talent trained at our institution.
