Jaume Barceló és catedràtic de la Facultat d'Informàtica i de la Facultat de Matemàtiques i Estadística de la Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya.
Doctor in Physical Sciences from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, he has a long experience as a teacher and as a researcher. In 1985 he organized a research group that developed the Aimsun microscopic traffic simulator, and was co-founder and scientific director of TSS, a company created by UPC to market, maintain and provide technical support to the simulator.
He has participated as a principal researcher in more than 20 projects of the R & D programs of the European Union on intelligent transport systems. He is the author of more than 100 articles published in scientific journals, conference proceedings and chapters of technical books on transport. He is also an associate editor in several prestigious scientific publications such as the Journal of Operations Research, Journal of Computational Application or Transportation Research Part C-Emerging Technologies.
In 1997 he received the Narcís Monturiol medal for technological innovation by the Catalan Government and in 2001 he was awarded with an Honorable Mention, a prize from the city of Barcelona to Technological Innovation. |
