The Barcelona School of Civil Engineering brings climate resilience research to the public at the PrimaveraR festival

Apr 28, 2026

On May 15th and 16th, the FLUMEN Hydraulics Laboratory, part of the UPC's Barcelona School of Civil Engineering (Escola de Camins), will open its doors for the second edition of the PrimaveraR festival. The event, focused on urban resilience in the face of the climate emergency, will offer visitors a firsthand look at how cutting-edge research in civil engineering helps protect our cities.

In an era of increasing climate emergency, water management and urban environment protection have become strategic pillars of 21st-century engineering. True to its commitment to knowledge transfer and innovation, the Barcelona School of Civil Engineering is participating in the PrimaveraR initiative through the FLUMEN Laboratory.

FLUMEN, a leading center in fluvial hydraulics and urban hydrology at the School, will showcase its physical models and simulations designed to predict and mitigate the effects of extreme weather events. Faculty and researchers from Flumen will guide visitors, explaining how infrastructure and nature can work together to create safer, more sustainable cities.
